SUMMER READING

My name is Ariel Gunnell, I love reading, i read a lot whenever i can. my all time favorite books are probably the Harry Potter series by J.k. Rowling, an Abundance of Katherines by John Green, the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, Between Shades of Grey by Ruta Sepetys, and fangirl, by Rainbow Rowell. I really like all tgese authors because they are really good at portraying characters feelings, and making a really interesting story.

this summer i read a few different books, but my favorite book was the absolutely true diary of a part - time Indian by Sherman Alexie. the book was about a Indian boy named junior who lived in a poor reservation, he was really small and had been born with extra fluid in his brain so his body didn't grow normally. but he was extremely smart. the school on the reservation wasn't very good, so he decided he was going to transfer to Rearden the all white public school a few towns over. the book is mostly about his new life being the only Indian in his new school. i felt like the book tackled important issues in the world today such as the issues of race,and class. in the book junior gets treated differently by his teachers because of his difference in race. he gets bullied by kids at his new school because they think that he is weird and by kids on the reservation because they consider him a traitor. i feel like this book raises awareness to its readers, because the book makes you empathize with junior and makes you more aware of how people treat each other.i feel like aan author that is able to do this is someone who can really help make the world a better place.
